Yes, he had a distinct style and dynamic, but his art left me cold. His weird faces, his doll-people, his nose fetish, I never was a fan.AndyDeckerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12806906746754478064noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6830827465735526826.post-30050648984346328292013-08-30T09:21:40.285-07:002013-08-30T09:21:40.285-07:00Thanks, D.E.!Thanks, D.E.!Matthew Bradleyhttp://bradleyonfilm.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6830827465735526826.post-61530826320361789802013-08-30T06:25:41.251-07:002013-08-30T06:25:41.251-07:00Redundant to me! First, Manny's four-color solo series began in FEAR #10, not #11, and more important, that self-same #10 included a non-Gold original story, "The Spell of the Sea Witch," written by Allyn Brodsky. (I had to clue SuperMegaMonkey in to the same thing.) Gold and Brodsky had something else in common, both having written crappy issues of IRON MAN (and no, that's not redundant, Professor Flynn!) between the tenures of Archie Goodwin and Gerry Conway. The "Witch" artwork is credited to the pseudonymous team of "Jay Hawk" (Jack Katz) and "Black Bill" (as in Everett).Matthew Bradleyhttp://bradleyonfilm.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6830827465735526826.post-56987816183144972482013-08-28T07:28:37.839-07:002013-08-28T07:28:37.839-07:00Professor Scott, much as we may disagree on other ...Professor Scott, much as we may disagree on other things, you totally endeared yourself to me with your line, "I really feel like I should be contributing more commentary, since this is one of my signature titles, but I've got nothing." It's a feeling that, alas, I'm sure every faculty member will have from time to time.

Meanwhile, I'd asked Dean Enfantino to correct my "Iron Guts" typo to its proper "Ironguts," but methinks he was too busy cherchezing la femme. And rightly so. You go, boy.

Uh, Professor Jim, Gerry won't start writing the FF for another 11 issues. This is Stan.Matthew Bradleyhttp://bradleyonfilm.wordpress.com/noreply@blogger.com
